hey everyone, just a little update on an artist that I saw at the Walker Art Center recently. Her street name is SWOON and she was far more interesting then I had expected. Her art is inspired by the people she meets and the places she visits. she has a focus on celebrating the "hidden world" that is all around us in a city. She challenges the people that see her work to think bout how they live in thier city, the ways that they interact with and are part of it. Through her wheatpastes and stencils she tries to be a part of the urban dialog adding her stories and the stories of the people she meets that dont have a voice. People like the poor or the homeless. I think its great how involved she is in the communitys she visits. She tries to put up art on the walls of every city she spends time in and I feel that its really cool for her to share her creativity and her inspiration with the communitys she goes into. if you would like to read an interview with SWOON head to www.dr.suessjuice.com/tags/swoon and read up!
