The future...and Mining the Museum this week!

To see what the future holds, check out this choice example of visual information mapping by Doogie Horner that I stumbled across on Co.Design.com, where Horner's new book Everything Explained Through Flowcharts is described as 'beautiful enough for wallpaper'.
We will be judging the products of our information mapping session last week as soon as we get a few free moments - I can't wait!  In the meantime, you may want to revisit the description of Fred Wilson's installations in Barrett, Ch. 2 and watch his process of creating installations that explore and challenge the meaning of objects in the Art 21 video posted below.  We  will be visiting the Minneapolis Art Institute this week, 'mining the museum' ala Wilson as we search for and select objects with which to create our own installations.  Be sure to bring your digital cameras and process journals so you can record your findings for this week's blog assignment.  My office hours for Section D will be before our trip, from 2:45 - 3: 15, so if you would like to meet, plan accordingly.  And in the meantime, keep those blog posts rolling in and don't forget to comment on at least two of your colleagues posts this week - let's get this conversation rolling!
p.s. Don't forget to attend the Foundation event at the WAC tomorrow night from 6-9...
