Last week was jam packed, with a whirlwind site visit to the MIA, viewing the collection and working with partners on the Mining the Museum blog project, and then onto the Foundation event at the Walker Art Center.  Can't wait to hear about it!  This week we will be plunging headlong into the world of fashion and graphic design, with Section A leading the way to Woychick Design, a graphic design studio that works with nonprofit organizations on their identity and marketing strategies and the Anne Cramer Studio, home to an up and coming fashion designer in south Minneapolis that's whipping up 'charming, slightly quirky, high-quality timeless clothing. (StarTribune, Sept. 30, 2010)  Because of the designers' schedules, Section D will be postponing travel til next week, and instead will  watch Helvetica, a fascinating documentary about font design.  We will be spending the remainder of the class researching and writing about font design and  finishing up the MIA blogs. (with hopefully a few minutes to review and vote on our visual information mapping projects - remember them? ) So read Ch. 5, Cultivating Creativity in  Launching the Imagination and come prepared with your process journals and questions for the designers and your classmates this Thursday.  And don't forget to your bring your  laptops (Section D).  Let's dive in to design!
