Midway Gallery

I loved this piece! The creative and raw use of 16mm film being both captured in all natural light from a fixed angle, and then being fed through the projecter from the ceiling shows echoes of an installation David Lynch or Warhol might have created. The simple nature of the piece is very deceptive aswell, because it seems to be very minimal, however it really is a combination of several complex elements (the most ridiculous of which being the elevated platform made entirely from sand...). I hope to see more exhibits there in the future, and I attending a couple of their film screenings as a result.... This place seems to really have their direction together, despite its size and location.

On a side note:

I'd like to point out that the library there had a document of THE COMPLETE BERLIN ALEXANDERPLATZ film... the 15 hour German Epic is one that information and further reading material is rare to say the least, and the document they have on the work is by far the most thorough examination of Fassbinder's opus...

Wonderful resource I hope to use more often in the coming years!

  1. Glad you enjoyed the tour, Josh. Can you tell us a little more about the installation?
