Karthik Pandian. "Before the Sun"

Karthik Pandians art at the Midway Contemporary Art building in minneapolis was a 16mm installation that was based on the way time, archetecture, and archeology are blended together at the Cahokia Mounds in illinois. He used the two 16mm film projectors pointed in opposite directions in line to show the sun setting and rising and then placed them on top of a mound of dirt which symbolised the earthen mounds in illinois. He also used a pink twine, the type used in excavation sites, as a grid to map out space on the ceiling and also to support the loops of film running through the projectors. This created a cool worn out effect on the film and showed the concept of aging really well. Overall Karthik Pandians exhibition was interesting and it was cool to see how everything about his peice tied back into his inspitartion.
