Fonts

Courier is a font that is extremely generic looking. It reminds me of the font used on prescription bottles. It's used only to inform, to describe in the most legible way what it reads. It has a feeling of professionalism in the sense that it has no elaborate decoration but strives to make each letter legible and solitary.

Monotype Corvisa is a font that has minimal decoration that gives the font a professional and elegant style. It reminds me of the font used on wedding invitations. This font feels very safe, like the perfect combination of class and legibility. It is used to add a little bit of visual interest for anything that is formal, like a wedding or banquet.

School House Cursive is the font that is the basic tool in teaching elementary school students how to form cursive letters. It reminds me of the posters and worksheets we had in 1st or 2nd grade that required us to fit the letters perfectly on the bottom, top and middle lines. It makes me feel nostalgic of my early school years because those posters covered the walls in all of our classrooms. It's use is pretty obvious, it is a model for how a person learns to write cursive.

  1. Some interesting choices, Addie. I've always liked to use Courier in instances that require the feel of a tired old typewriter...
