Fonts

Cambria is an opentype or postscript font that can be found on newer versions of both Windows and Macintosh computers. It has been designed for on-screen readability as well as to look good when printed in small sizes (www.ascenderfonts.com). It is also the default font for Microsoft Word Mac. It is a fairly basic serif font that reads well and looks professional. It is similar to Times New Roman which is an extremely common font especially in academic writing, but is slightly elongated with some variations in line and serifs. "Diagonal and vertical hairlines and serifs are relatively strong, while horizontal serifs are small and intend to emphasize stroke endings rather than stand out themselves" (www.ascenerfonts.com). Overall, the font has a very professional feel, and could be used in a variety of places including online articles or any type of advertisement or brochure.

Pea Stacy Elizabeth is a font that I found on kevinandamanda.com, a blog by a couple mainly highlighting Amanda's scrapbooks, photos, and crafts. There is actually a whole collection of fonts on the blog that have been created through people sending in their handwriting, to be converted into fonts. It looks like and reminds me of just that, a person's handwriting. For this reason, the font is probably not best suited for professional situations, but more for artistic or decorative use.

Gill Sans Ultra Bold Condensed is a fairly simple font with a very bold, blocky look. The characters have a playful, almost animated feel that would probably not be suitable for professional use, but could be used in some forms of advertising and other types of design. It is not quite as easily read as Helvetica or Times New Roman, but is still fairly clear and could easily be seen from a far distance which would make it a good choice for large scale advertising.
